Dig Staking and As-Builts

TIR can generate customized dig sheets for all dig locations and provide accurate and efficient dig site staking. Locations are staked by means of top of ground chaining and/or sub-meter GPS utilizing ILI-XYZ coordinates. During excavation, TIR surveyors can be available to assist in verifying the location of each anomaly as well as providing digital documentation (As-Built) of anomaly repairs.

Doc & GPS Centerline Surveys

During depth of cover (DOC) & centerline surveys, GPS data is collected every 75 feet and at every feature (mile posts, pipeline markers, ROW issues, spans, exposures, etc.) Depth of cover will be collected every 100 feet or less, if required, and at each side of water bodies, low grade areas, poor ROW, and roadways/ditches.

Pipeline Marker Replacement and Installation

TIR provides the installation of pipeline markers to meet government regulations of line of sight and can include GPS coordinates to help in mapping of pipeline systems. TIR can replace or repair damaged markers or, in the event of a pipeline changing operators, install new markers system wide.

Pig Tracking

TIR provides 24-hour pig tracking for all types of pigging projects (ILI, Hydro, Cleaning, Gauging, Batching, Purging, Stopple Replacement, etc.) Our pigging experts are well trained in locating stuck or lost pipeline tools containing 22hz transmitters. Our highly trained pigging experts are fully equipped with all the modern tracking technology such as geophones, transmitters and receivers, computers with navigation, and proprietary tracking software.

TIR uses state of the art GPS equipment for all surveys including:

  • R-10 (Sub-Centimeter)
  • Pro-XRT (Sub-Decimeter)
  • Geo XT & XH (Sub-Meter)

TIR utilizes a proprietary database system to hold all survey and tracking data. Data can be exported to meet customized client requirements in any format.

All reporting data is subject to an extensive QA/QC process.

Project and Data Management

Data Management is a key differentiator for TIR relative to its competitors. TIR provides full data management services, including detailed reports and pipeline analysis and storage of data for its clients.

FAST™ (Flaw Analysis and Sizing Technique) is an innovative technology that has been developed to allow for reliable ultrasonic inspection in a variety of components, materials, and thicknesses. FAST™ is an innovative way to use a longitudinal wave to do both detection and sizing of flaws. The most outstanding feature of FAST™ is the significant reduction of false calls while maintaining very high levels of detection.

FAST™ has been successfully applied to:

(Quality Ultrasonic Examination and Sizing Technology) is an enhanced or automated version of FAST™ and, when applied allows for less expensive and more reliable inspection of pipeline welds.

When QUEST™ UT is utilized, the entire weld volume is examined in one scan, and many flaw sizes and shapes can be obtained. With QUEST®, there is no limitation on thin-walled material and only one side of the weld is needed for scanning.

QUEST® can accurately depth size long seam OD cracking found after Magnetic Particle examination. Detection, characterization, through-wall sizing and length sizing are done during the detection scan with no changes necessary in setup parameters or equipment.

Phased Array (PAUT)

Phased array instruments produce accurate, detailed cross-sectional pictures of internal structures at fast inspection speeds. Phased array technology uses multiple ultrasonic elements and electronic time delays to create beams that can be focused electronically for fast inspection, full data storage, and multiple angle inspections. Phased array technology provides precise measurement with the most reliable results. Phased Array applications include manual and manual encoded weld scanning. Encoded scans offer extremely accurate sizing of weld flaws along with cross sectional and planar views of the entire encoded scan area.

OD Anomaly Assessment

The Creaform laser scanner and Pipecheck software combine to provide extremely accurate (up to 50 micron) and repeatable results with acquisition speeds up to 80 times faster than manual pit depth gauging.

Corrosion - the Pipecheck corrosion module offers very fast and reliable data processing that generates instant, on-site results. In comparison with traditional measurement methods, this software offers accuracy and repeatability that are beyond expectations.

Mechanical Damage - the Pipecheck mechanical damage module has been developed specifically for pipeline mechanical damage analysis. This module features numerous key functionalities that increase dent understanding and facilitate the decision-making process.

Corrosion in Mechanical Damage - Pipecheck software is the one and only solution on the market to offer sophisticated tools able to extract corrosion depth that is located within a mechanical damage. This confidence will result in lower maintenance cost and reduced risk of costly failure.
